Give an Hour. Give a Saturday. Give your Best.

We all have special talents. Things we can do to help.

When you reach out a hand to one individual, you influence the condition of all.

Standardized test scores indicate nearly 7,000 third graders throughout Wayne, Oakland, & Macomb counties in Michigan are not reading at grade level.
Studies show that of the children who do not read at grade level by the 3rd grade, 10 to 15 percent will drop out of high school and only 2 percent will complete a college degree.

Operations ABC will be launching on October 1st for the 2008/2009 school year.

Through Operation ABC, you can join volunteers across the region who are training to become reading tutors and help 1st and 2nd graders read at grade level by 3rd grade.

Approximately 32 schools are in need of volunteers in the tri-county area.

The United Way would love to have you on board!

Volunteers can call 211 to register, log on to www.LiveUnitedSEM.org for more information, or contact Laura Stanton directly at Laura.Stanton@liveunitedsem.org or 313-226-9326.
