Chrysler and our dealers have been making quite an impact in communities across the United States by joining with KaBOOM! to help achieve its goal of providing a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Employees and dealers who have helped build a playground will tell you what an uplifting experience it is to work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
You are invited to join us in our next playground building project, which is set for Saturday, Nov. 1, in Detroit.
The Chrysler Foundation, Metro Detroit Dodge Dealers, Chrysler/Jeep Superstores, Chrysler Financial and the Detroit Community Initiative are teaming up to build the playground in the Josefiak Playlot, 13151 Grenier, Detroit (near McNichols and Gratiot roads). Parking on the day of the build will be provided in a secure lot located on the northwest corner of Gratiot and McNichols. A shuttle will bring volunteers to the build site.
The construction requires 175 volunteers from Chrysler to contribute their time and energy to building the playground structure.
The agenda for Nov. 1 is as follows:
No heavy equipment will be used, and you don’t need any construction experience -- just the willingness to swing a hammer or wield a screwdriver. No tools are required -- all tools will be supplied on-site. People also are needed who can help with activities such as registration and food service.
In addition, 10 build captains are needed on Thursday, Oct. 30 (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 1 to lead the effort. The build captains work on "Prep Day" to assist with the site preparation, drill holes for the equipment, etc. All build captains should be prepared to perform strenuous activity and act as a leader for a team of volunteers on the build day of Nov. 1.
If you can lend a hand, please sign up in the volunteer database through the following link: Spouses and guests who are at least 18 years old also are welcome to participate.
To bring a guest, or if you have any questions about this initiative, please call Daphne Harris on tieline 722-3356 or send an e-mail to dvh@chrysler.com.
I hope you will consider joining your co-workers in this worthwhile effort.
Sincerely,
Frank Fountain
